This picture goes with Pancreatitis. It shows what is organs are affected by this disease.
This picture shows the diggerence between a person without celiac disease and on the right is the person with the disease.
The three diseases we chose for the digestive system are Acid Reflex, Celiac Disease, and Pancreatitis.
Acid Reflex iswhen your lower esophageal sphincter relaxes, which it should not, causing stuff in the stomach to come up into the esophagus. Besides being called acid reflex it is also called gastroesophageal reflex (GER) and there is also gastrophageal reflex disease (GERD) which is the same as GED just it occurs more often. Something's that cause GED or GERD are increased pressure on your abdomen from being overweight or pregnant, or certain medicines, or even smoking. The most common symptoms are heartburn, which is a burning feeling in your chest, bad breath and nausea. GED disrupts homeostasis because when the stomach contents leak into the esophagus it irritates the lining. Celiac Diseaseis when a person with this disease cannot toilreate gluten because it hurts the inside of their inner lining of their small intestines and prevents it from adsorbing nutrients. Celciac disease is caused by heredity. Researchers have not found any other way to get it besides inheriting it from your parents or someone else in the family. Symptoms of this disease are abdominal bloating, chronic diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, nausea, and/or vomiting. The only cure for this disease, which is temporary, is a gluten free diet. Pancreatitis is when the pancreas is inflamed. The pancreas is a large gland located behind the stomach and close to the first part of the small intestine. The pancreas has enzymes that help digest food. The pancreas also releases the hormones insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream. These hormones help the body regulate the glucose as it takes from food for energy. When the pancreas is inflamed, the enzymes inside it attack and damage the tissues that produce them. You get this by drinking alcohol, infections, or if you had recently had a surgery. Almost all pancreatitis is caused by overuse of alcohol.
